Drift judging

Post  slidewayz on Tue Jun 16, 2009 1:36 pm

In light of the fact that you guys will hold a drift comp in the next few months, I think we need to get up to scratch with the D10 type judging system. The main reason that I bring up this subject, is that when Brad, Ray and Brandon drift against each other, the heats are lasting up to 8min, which means that the person with the weaker battery usually loses out, due to the fact that the battery goes flat and you can no longer drift. I personally don't know how to judge with their system, but I think we need to work together to learn it, so we can be more professional and give each driver a fair chance. What do you guys suggest or think? Note, this is a positive post to improve things and not negative in any way. The event over the weekend was great, but I think our 'simple system' is flawed. When you have two very good drifters on the track, who don't make many mistakes, it makes it extremely difficult for the judges to find fault. Maybe max 5 laps? Very strict on angles etc. This would also need to be discussed between us, as to what is considered 'good angles' and what are not. We might interpret this differently, so that is why I feel we need to get together to better understand it. Any positive suggestions and comments welcome. We all need to learn and improve. Later dudes.

the problem is finding people who are willing to commit themselves to learning the judging, then making sure those two people are on the same page so that the judging is fair, plus they obviously cant compete.

that's the difficult part, so sure we would love to judge properly , but who is gonna step forward, its a big commitment and wont be able to drift, just judge.

so far we haven't found anyone who is willing to do this

Judges

Post  slidewayz on Tue Jun 16, 2009 4:48 pm

Yep, that's the tough part. I feel I still drift reasonably well and would like to continue to do so, but in the interest of the hobby/sport, I would like to volunteer myself from East London, to learn the D10 system. I would appreciate any help in this regard. Come now PE, who from your lot is prepared to do the same? Thanks for the input Brad.
