What should the roll out be when running with a brush motor on cs and ss?
I find the the car to be slower than the rest when running a 40 on the cs ( TOA5)
SS 35 with a MI2.

I think the top clubstock guys run in the region of 40 to 42 rollout. I ran higher when I was doing clubstock but Nicole is using the same car now and I geared it lower and it seems fast enough. I will measure it 2morrow and come back to you.
SS I think a 35 rollout is to high. SS is a class where motor's armature and brushes have to be tip top at all times. If you overgear it, yo take moisture/lubricant from the brush and they don't perform as well as they should. I would start by cutting the comm again, checking the brushes and run it on approximately a 32mm/rev rollout. You can see where your car revs out and gear up if need be. The ideal would be for the car to rev out after it covered 1/3rd of the straight and then still have plenty punch exiting corners.
Hope this helps

I ran @ 42.38mm rollout on my TA05 CS, with 62mm tires, 47 pinion, 96 spur and found my car to be quick but slightly overgeared as my motor was red hot. My next run will be @ 40, 41mm.

Thanks Abu.
I have been from a 39 to a 42 roll out. Used the roll out cal. Just don't seem to get the same speed. Talking straight line.

clubstock is a funny class, cornerspeed has to be maintained in order to accelerate and build up good speed. We must make time one weekend and go do some laps and I will help you with the gearing to find the sweet spot. Give me one of your motors I will ask Fusion to check it and get an indication of where to gear it.

@CRH - one other ghing to take into consideration with silver cans, they are not all the same, it's like a bag of smarties really. Every single silver can has it's own sweet spot, and the goal is to find that sweet spot with the motor you have. The next one you buy you will have to experiment again to find it's sweet spot. As for rollout, when I went to nats last year the top guys were running 50+ with crap handouts, I personally was running about 47 and was at least 2-3 seconds off the pace and only qualified 1st b mains, in the finals I ran 50 and my final result would've placed me 5th in the a mains, so it's a game of trial and error. I am currently running 45 at the club and I have won a race against the top guys. Unfortunately no easy answer. Track time and experimenting is the only way forward, but write down all your results when practicing for refference to see what works best for you. GOOD LUCK.

I ran 42.5 on cstock the last race and found my car was going slower every race. not the battery. The gearing was too high and strained a well prepped motor.I personally think that between 41 and 42 will be the sweet spot on our track. it also depends on your cars final drive ratio, mine is 1.7-1. Then you will start on a smaller pinion and spur and work it up. I your Final drive is higher Eg 2.022 you will start on a bigger spur and pinion and work your way down. Allthough yoour roll out calculates the same, the ratio towards that matter aswell.

Speed comes with alot of small things as I explained to you at the last race. It really takes alot of time and effort to get the speed up and then even with a slower car there always the consistency/ or error effect.

Tyres play a big role on speed aswell, at club stock the hardest tyre that you are comfortable with will give you more speed, Less camber and toe in will help with speed, but then you have to be very smooth to realy use that speed, otherwise it will all be waisted in the corners and your times will be slower.

Reprogram your radio and speedo aswell and make sure you get all the available power to your motor, while keeping your motor and speedo cool is just as important.
