why dont we run rubbers?? if the worlds guys do.
We are a third world country, we might get around to that after 2010
I am trying to use it now, foams just give so much more grip and it is less expensive. Those guys run with corporate sponsors and hardly use a set of tyres and rims more than 5 minutes. Down here that will cost you about 1500 per race day, they don't even practice on used tyres $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
I am just going to run my set and see long it will last, foams lasts me about 5 racedays

Re: Lipo Approved for 2010 Worlds
There you would need to use rubbers all the time, but race on foams don't they????

Re: Lipo Approved for 2010 Worlds
We are about the only country in the world that races electric with foam on asphalt with 200mm bodies.
@vuka - the only foam racing done there is with nitro.
@flattaps - we'll see who is a real man when you change to rubbers????

will it really be that expensive?? probably only for open mods and 19t, for club stock we could use rubbers easily

Re: Lipo Approved for 2010 Worlds
In SA you are free to use whichever tyre takes your fancy, we are not limited to only one type. The norm is foam cause the car handles better and is easier to setup. There are alot of guys that run rubber in club stock all over the country. If your car is setup for foams and you decide to change to rubbers on race day without making the right changes you will have a difficult time even trying to keep your car in a straight line. Go check the manufacturers setup sheets for the different spec'd cars and you'll see the differences. I don't know them off the top of my head.

rubber can be expensive in the beginning but once you know what works you will maybe have 2 sets with different inserts for changes in temperature. That is unless you need an edge over the next guy, then I suppose it can get crazy expensive. We used a set of rubbers in Uitenhage for about 6 months (superstock)

Re: Lipo Approved for 2010 Worlds
Eish that was cheap racing, right up my ally, 2 or 3 pinions, 1 set of tyres and you were set for the season. Now I got every size pinion(still not enough to get right rollout), spare spurs, 4 sets foams??? Maybe we must go back to uitenhage???? NAH, you'll never catch me there again!!! DRCCC is awesome and still getting better.

if Uitenhage had so many members it would get more competitive and expensive at the same time. We did not have to lift our game because we never got new guys that went fast. Now is a different story,
