1/8th electric buggy
If all goes well, my son and I will be sharing our 1/8th buggy and race against the gas guys. I am sure it will be very reliable. Only thing is we only have one set of batteries and one charger, so we might miss a heat or 2. We wont run endurance either, as I dont want to run the motor that long, even if we had batteries to change. This should be interesting and I am hoping people will see that you dont need all the hassles that go along with gas racing, but can still have fun, speed and reliability with electric. Will report back here after 27th. Dt are you coming up again?

Re: East London Open Day 16th August
I know about hassles with gas!
changed one of older monster trucks to electric and got a 5cell 5000mah 40c battery from fusion.
That thing is hecticmuch faster now and with out the hastle, just strugling with brakes.
My only concern however is the fan on the esc with small stones, sand etc.
I also swapped the DF03RA stock motor with a 12t bruchless setup, great fun, but the fan???????

Re: East London Open Day 16th August
Has your fan not got a protective grid over it? Why dont you use some type of mesh, eg an old speaker grillle, to cover fan if you are worried about that? I also considered the big lipo, but my buggy has battery holders for two 7.4v lipos and I would have balance issues. I could probably fit something of same weight on the other side, but that would be unnecessary weight. Come join us on 27th. We can run a fun electric class. Let me know if you are keen. Pm me for details of club membership fees etc

It's a far trip from here in PE, see what I can do. I also thought of the speaker grill or a tea siff of sorts.

Re: East London Open Day 16th August
Ya it is far, we have been trying to organise a road trip for like a year now, to go to PE. Looks promising for end oct with drift comp. I will probably bring buggy with for fun, if I can make some tires, I might even drift it for fun, if the track is big enough. See what you can do. Do you drift at all? If you do, we can get together with a few guys and drift on the sat pm or night and race electric off road sun. Make a weekend of it.

I've tried my hand drifting. Just too many hours cleaning the bearings after words.I have ordered a new TRF and will then use my old one for drifting.Even Fusion looked good drifting the TRF

If you have a decent motor and it is tuned properly they run very reliably. It is a great pity for newbies to go and check out racing and all they see is people battling with cars that won't start and motors that cut all the time. I got a mail a few minutes ago from the off road club who will have a clinic on the 19th of September and I can assure you that once the guys are helped by Luca and his team it will be a whole different story.
With gas racing and to a greater extreme offroad racing you have to keep your car in tip top shape, clean and properly maintained or else you will pull your hair out your head and no motor tuner will be able to help you.

the car maybe looked good drifting but Fusion can certainly not look good. Real men dont compliment others on their looks
