Race day reports

Post  JaY on Sun May 10, 2009 9:59 pm

Johan and I decided to start this thread. We want to encourage you guys and gals to report on your racedays:

I will start:

wow guys what a great days racing! Firstly sorry to Ray for arriving so late and making his day a little more difficult, mothers day breakfast ran a little bit late! Ive just realised I didnt pay for the entry. Is it okay if I pay double for the next race? sorry about that.

Highlight of the day was dicing Nick for the win in the 1st race, very clean and mature racing. Nick took the win at the end. 2nd race I managed to take the victory. In the final I started in third position behind George and Jacques, they proved to be too quick for me and possibly I was trying to hard which led to a mistake and I spun, allowing Marcel to catch up and eventually pass. I couldnt keep up with him either! But it was all about Demi pressurerising me in the final 4 laps in the pink Porsche to make a mistake and I did!! Demi went passed and I manged to stay with her but she made a mistake and did a flip in the air on the last lap, I went passed to take 4th position.

Well done to the guys I raced against, the racing was clean with only very few incidences, I think we all are improving especially when it comes to avoiding accidents. Congrats to George (1st), Jacques (2nd) and Marcel(3rd).

Raceday Reports

Post  ototw on Sun May 10, 2009 10:14 pm

Well done jay,you did very well and I wish all other racers would run with the same style, keep it clean ,but still very competitive. The final heat was tough, sorry about Demi who wiped out, would helped if the marshall in that corner were not sitting and chatting with his wife/girlfriend and rather be awake ,which costed her a position or more. Before the race had started and ontop of the driversstand, the guys to my right- and left handside, were the same group when we usually practice, then I already knew its gonna be a tight one.
Its also good to see that some of the newby TT-01 racers taking their hobby serious, they are exited about the races and its a way of growth in our club.
I just want to ask to all the racers, please do the marshalling as good as what you would like, to be done to you, when you racing, concentrate on the section that your eyes has to be on.

Thanks Jay. Are you going to write a weekly report for the TT01 class? We can maybe get someone from each class to write a report and pm it to Sam and he can maybe combine them for us? Just a thought, what do you guys think?

Im not sure as I will only be able to write the reports on the races I enter.. as im normally getting the car ready during the other TT-01 races. I wanted to start this thread as I feel it would be good to get the different perspectives of the races from the other guys. It makes for interesting reading I think. Smile

Just pushing my luck Jay. Racing was good and it is always good to hear from the racers. I did not have a wonderful day at all, broken and slow cars was the order of the day for me. We had a huge turnout with 47 entries and I think 2 guys came later that was not counted. Me running race control was hectic today with that amount of entries we had. We will have the amb up and running I hope and we will also implement a new race entry system where you have to be entered by sms.

In mods my raceday came to a premature end when a lapped car was accidentally put down in front of mine. I think people dont realize how quick these cars are in places. I hit it so hard my box at home had a dent in when I got home. Christo took the honors in mods and Ashley was giving him a run for his money and putting in some blistering laps. I watched from the side since the spares to repair the car was not in my toolbox.
better luck next time Sad

Racing reports

Post  ototw on Sun Jun 07, 2009 7:58 am

Good luck to all today at the races, the westerly wind is pumping, take just a tip, when you going down the main straight and you turning at the bottom corner, the wind catch your righthand side of the car, speed + westerly wind, either you end up in the gulley or upside down, speed kills.
Also when you turn at hairpin corner, you coming directly into the wind, its not u're car misbehaving,or you that can't drive, its the wheather conditions.
To avoid all ,fit a roofrack and add a brick tied down with tie-straps,otherwise the brick blows away.
[b]Enjoy u're day!!!
