Tamiya Cup finals Meyersdal
As some of you know and don't know, I was at the Tamiya cup final on the weekend. I was not there to race but merely to help out and see how they run things and the different classes.
Firstly I have to say the racing was good and I would have liked to see how some of our locals would have done at that track. The track is much easier than ours and they had 3 heats of TT01 which they call Stock Touring. The racing was fast and furious at the sharp end of the field and good dices all the way through.
The one thing they were once again very strict on was contact. In some races out of 9 drivers, more than half got stop and go penalties and I think I even saw 2 black flags over the weekend. RC racing is not a contact sport so fair enough. They had a scrutineer and he was pretty strict and a lot of guys were disqualified for small things that we let fly locally.
The other classes were well represented except the buggy class where they only had 6 drivers. It was fun to watch and they put wooden ramps on the track for them. The othe BIG class was the MInis, they were realy nice to watch and if they are well setup, they are very quick and it might be a class for us to consider locally. They run sport tuned motors and rubber tyres and nott oo much setup work. Tyres might become a bit expensive because they spin a lot being front wheel drive. I took a lot of video of the event and will see what I can do to get this on disc asap. I will need help so if we have someone able to do this, I have 2 and a half worth of tape.
Something else that blew me away is some of the paint jobs, I will attach pics as soon as I get chance. We missed our flight after the event and I was only able to get a flight back today. I have a full night's sleep to catch up on so will talk later.

Lucky it was a Josie chick. At least she had all her teeth.
From the east cape, she would have had the two front teeth out.
