TT-01 Mod class for next season

Post  JaY on Mon May 25, 2009 8:51 am

Hi guys..

I would really like to run this mod class next season. I think it should the same rules as TT-01 stock except you can run a black can and a 3000mah. I really like the TT-01 stock class because its regulated almost in every way which brings a level playing field with regards to cost, but I reckon a bit more power and the experienced gained from racing in the stock class would make for great racing, rubber tyres and all.

We must realise the stock class is for newbies and maybe the guys who have done well this season should move on to give the rest of the guys a chance and I think a Mod class would be a great and easy 2nd step. Im not keen to enter clubstock, as the cost to be competitive is just not feasible for me.

who is keen? what you guys think?

mving up a class or down!!!

Post  vuka on Mon May 25, 2009 11:05 am

I agree, there should also be a class for realy first time drivers, my club stock took a real beating the first heat because of inexperience and mostly because of maturity. It was only my second time out in a race, wich makes me a newby aswell, but did not mind being passed by someone faster than me, but did mind losing first to youngsters who was fighgting to keep their own cars on the track by themselves when being lapped, after this insident on about the fourth lap, I could not get my car sorted again. Evil or Very Mad
There should also be strict rules on contact and implemented forcefully. If the guys need contact take up BOXING or STOCK CAR RACING.
Accidents do happen aspecially when racing is close but then it is just that, an accident. Incidents is caused by impatient unvolantary
movement of the throttle finger due to the lack of maturity. rabbit

maybe ray can source us a inexpensive 2000-3000mah lipos it would actually be pretty cheap cause u will just buy one battery, and most guys at the track have lipo chargers anyway, i know we have had this argument before, but i dont think you can be competitive in club stock with a tt01 anymore , the quality of racing in club stock has gone up quiet a bit and u do need to be on top of your game to race it, a tt01 mod class would be perfect for us "casual racers Suspect "
im prob gonna run tt01 next season just to get back into the swing of things but after that i would really be interested in a tt01 mod class.

gearing - 55 25(we all have loads of these)

motor- sport tuned (R220 i think)

tires- i vote foams, i think they work out the cheapest but this can be discussed

battery - if enough of us place orders im sure ray can find us something

otherwise standard tamiya tt01 and parts

bodies-open

INEXPENSIVE MOD CLASS

Post  vuka on Mon May 25, 2009 12:14 pm

Sounds good, keeping the rules tight with a little bit of movemnet. Still limiting what maximums to use. You had a great run yesterday, to bad about the insident in the final

ya, the aim is to keep it cheap and competitive, but faster and a step up for all the tt01 guys, it will be cheaper to step up to tt01 mod class than to buy a whole new chassis and race club stock.

ya i had a good day yesterday really enjoyed it, ya i was very happy with my results, i thought the tt01 guys where gonna give me a big hiding but i held my own, next race day i should have a bit faster car though Twisted Evil

all we need to start a new class is 6 people, so who is in? if you guys can put together 6 people u have a tt01 mod class, im gonna concentrate on tt01 for a while till i get up to speed then will move to tt01 mod class

Is there not a rule somewhere that you have to move on from tt01 after your second season or if you have been champ or top3 Question

no, most of the guys move on on there own, when we started the track i was pretty fast in tt01, i moved to club stock with my tt01 and did pretty well but now the standards in club stock have gone a bit high for a tt01. but i think tt01 mod class would be the perfect move up for the fast guys not ready to get a new car

it has been discussed at length before and I think the rules are like Fusion mentioned. I dont think we should limit batery capacity in the class, just weight. Bring 6 cars and we will consider. The problem with to many classes is reducing the size of other classes and it becomes boring to race against yourself and spectators dont enjoy that.
I would however like to say that if we have enough interest for such a class, we will run it. At DRCCC the members make the decisions. We will have a big meeting soon and new classes can be discussed and voted on.

i also thought so.... but u must remember a 3600 lipo will have the same performance as a 5000 lipo. so u have a choice and the guys with 5000 lipos wont have to buy 3600 and the guys who need lipos can buy ether 3600 or 5000
